More than meets the eye of the Golden Ladle

by: Siti Zubaidah Bte Daud l January 19, 2017

Fusion foods are seen everywhere nowadays but what is so special about this stall called the Golden Ladle.

Owner by Muhammad Razin, 30 says he started 7 months ago and did a revamp in the menu. “New menu is the improved version and it started two months ago with desserts as a new addition.” What stands out for their stall compared to others is that they explain each dish to their customers individually. “It builds relationship and understanding” he says.

YUMYUM: Squid ink pasta was used in this Oglio Seafood Squid Pasta to enhance the taste of the dish, offering customers fresh ingredients every day for better quality dishes for the customers. (PHOTO: Siti Zubaidah Bte Daud)

The dish was aromatic as there’s herbs and spices used in it. I was surprised to see 3 huge prawns as well as mussels and sliced squids. The seafood ingredients were fresh and juicy and it enhances the flavour of the ink pasta. However, I expected the prawns to be deshelled as in the menu. But it wasn’t, hence I was disappointed. Overall, it has a unique flavour that you need to try it yourself. Definitely worth the try! But to those who cannot handle much spice please ensure that you get ready a drink to go along with the dish.

Cheesesteak [$8]

Rating: 3.8/5

CHEESY GOODNESS: Although some parts of the meat was hard, the cheesy goodness paired with the fries combo and black pepper sauce will make you come back for more. (PHOTO: Siti Zubaidah Bte Daud)

The dish served looked better than in the menu itself. I was excited when it came because it looks fantastic! It was sprinkled with herbs, thus reminding me of the Macdonald shaker fries but the taste was different. I feel that the herbs didn’t contribute much to the taste however, it enhances the visuals of the dish. The dish contains a panini bread with red and green capsicums, beef, cheese and black pepper sauce (homemade). Overall, the beef was well marinated and the dish goes well with the bread. Good price if you are craving for cheesesteaks.

Classic Waffle with ice-cream [$4.50]

Rating: 4/5

SWEET TOOTH: Waffles paired with vanilla ice-cream and strawberry sauce. A perfect combo for the sweet tooth at an irresistible price: $4.50. (PHOTO: Siti Zubaidah Bte Daud)

I feel that the dessert is of a good size as it is served with not just one but two rectangular waffles topped with ice cream and strawberry sauce. It tasted average but is worth it as compared to other dessert stalls, who overcharge. So if you are on a budget and are craving for waffles head down here!

Worth it?

Yes! For the price and big portion of food. However, the waiting time was quite long. And the place is a bit ulu hence ensure that you get your directions right before heading over.
